Who should participate in SDGKU’s programs?

A.

Anyone interested in globally-relevant educational programs and courses that would like to acquire global knowledge and competency to enrich their professional careers and personal development.

 

Q. What is so unique about the online instructional programs at SDGKU? 

A.

They offer the student synchronized use of broadcast quality pre-produced video, audio and electronic text, with flexible and multi-lingual individualized instruction, assessment and feedback.


Q. Do SDGKU students need high-speed (broadband) Internet to access its video resources?

A.

No, all videos are encoded at both high and low (56Kbps) speeds, so that they can be accessed from anywhere in the world with traditional Internet bandwidth as well.


Q. What is the estimated study/work load per week for a student once enrolled in a Master of Science Degree program to be offered by SDGKU?

A.

Approximately 12 hours per week if the student wants to finish each sequential content course (3 academic credits/units) in one calendar month, and proportionally less for a slower pace. Capstone courses vary depending on the student projects.


Q. What is the estimated study/work load per week for a student once enrolled in a Doctor of Philosophy Degree program to be offered by SDGKU?

A.

Approximately 15 hours per week if the student wants to finish each sequential content course (3 academic credits/units) in one calendar month, and proportionally less for a slower pace. Capstone courses vary depending on the student projects.


Q. What is the estimated study/work load per week for a student once enrolled in a Non-degree Global Competency course to be offered by SDGKU?

A.

Approximately 6 hours per week if the student wants to finish each sequential module in one calendar month, and proportionally less for a slower pace. Capstone courses vary depending on the student projects.


Q. Is there an English-language requirement to enter and graduate from an SDGKU Master of Science or Doctoral Program?

A.

Yes; non-native English speaking students must obtain 550 points in the academic Toefl exam or pass a competency-based exam administered by SDGKU.


Q. Are the instructional and testing materials of SDGKU available at all times for the student to access and use electronically from anywhere in the world?

A.

Yes; they are available 24/7 during the period of the time allowed by the program.


Q. What is the academic structure of each Course in the SDGKU Master of Science and Doctoral programs?

A.

The Instructor-In-Charge assigns at least four on-line video seminars/lectures, with their instructional support manual and tests, to be taken sequentially, and responds to specific questions and comments from enrolled students through two online templates and an electronic forum (an interactive online bulletin board) available in the student portal. A capstone academic report (module report) and an action plan for competency asssessment must be completed before advancing to the following Course of the curriculum.
